This question was one I needed to answer twice today as I put it to two of my youngest children that we were going to spend some time in our local church for Adoration of the Eucharist. This was there first time at Adoration. I told them that, this is a personal invitation to you from Jesus.
Your hour with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament will repair for many evils of the world and can bring about peace on earth. Jesus is hidden in the host, but he really is there and when you close your eyes and speak to him , you may well feel his presence.
It is a gift from God that we can go sit or kneel with Jesus in Adoration once a week. Truly it is a miracle! Jesus wants you to do more than to go to mass on Sunday, you must also go to Adoration as a follower of Christ. Each hour you spend with Jesus will deepen his divine peace in your heart. Each hour you spend with Jesus on earth will leave your soul eternally more beautiful and glorious in heaven! They came armed with a child’s bible and a book on saints to read as they both felt they could not pray for that long or sit in silence!! Instructed to follow my lead and no talking was allowed , we quietly entered the chapel , genuflected in front of the altar and then sat down. I closed my eyes and spoke to Jesus , I could hear some rapid page turning but it quieted after a few minutes!!!.
After some time I opened my eyes, I noticed neither of them were reading but quietly absorbing the wonder and magic of the moment in the presence of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
"Jesus waits for us in this sacrament of love." (Pope John Paul II, Dominicae Canae) .
The Eucharist is sometimes described as the ‘source and summit’ of our faith. But in these busy days finding the time to go to Adoration can be difficult.
But if you try , you can make it happen, committing to regular Adoration with an open and love filled heart can have some surprising results.
There is nothing like the atmosphere of a quiet church, or a little chapel ,the ornate splendor of the monstrance to help you understand the truth of what is happening in Adoration.
We are truly before Jesus Christ, His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. Jesus is really there !
The more you sink into that silence in front of the Host, the more you will begin to realize that the only response is awe and wonder at the greatness of our Lord God,
The outward peace we can experience in Adoration (the quiet and the stillness) reaches a much deeper inner peace, it leads to an inner peace that affects all areas of our lives.
It boosts our faith and gives us hope for a brighter tomorrow.
It is both awesome and amazing how a simple act of committing to even a short time of regular Adoration makes such a huge difference to the rest of your life. Eternal Life !
God’s grace sustains you in every situation.
Temptation becomes easier to resist when you’re spending more time in Adoration. Sometimes, it really is that straightforward.
The graces bestowed from Eucharistic Adoration are numerous.
“Whenever I go to the chapel, I put myself in the presence of our good Lord, and I say to him, ‘Lord, I am here. Tell me what you would have me to do’ . . . And then, I tell God everything that is in my heart”. St. Catherine Labouré“
The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that you will spend on earth”. St. Teresa of Calcutta
If you have been sitting on the fence about Adoration, or recently just heard about it and did not understand it , then I urge you to go!My two little ones aged 7 and 9 did not manage the full hour today but they do aim to add ten minutes to the half hour they did today and build it up to an hour over the coming weeks. I felt so grateful as they love it as much as I do! Our time on earth is short and we all need to grow in holiness before we meet Our Creator! Eucharistic Adoration is a gift from God , accept it gratefully and share it !
