Surrender literally means to yield, to give up, to submit. to stop fighting. Stop fighting with yourself. Stop fighting the universe and the natural flow of life. Stop fighting with the love of God. Stop resisting and pushing against reality.
We are here in this physical plane on a journey back to God. It is easy to get distracted by things and people that take our attention from God and we lose sight of why we are here at all.
We seek externally for something to fill the deep yearning inside until the day we realize only the Love of God can fill this space.
By His grace, God showed me that if I wanted to find true peace and joy I had to let go of my cup – let all the distractions fall on the floor – so that I could be refilled with something better.
His Holy Living Water (John 4:14).
The first step in learning to let go of control is to stop striving, pushing and controlling. We don’t have to strive to make our life turn out a certain way;
we just have to abide in Him (John 15).
If you’re having trouble surrendering through prayer, try taking out a piece of paper and write down the things you are holding so tightly onto.
By acknowledging them it is easier to release them. You can then imagine yourself literally laying them down at the feet of Our Father.
Trusting in God is a lifelong process. Reading the word of God daily and listening to songs of praise leads to this place of serenity.
“Be still and know that I am God, / I will be exalted among the nations, / I will be exalted in the earth.””
Psalm 46:10, is a popular verse for comforting ourselves and others.
Taking time out of our day to meditate on Scripture and be silent with listening ears toward God is mentioned in other sections of Scripture Luke 5:16 Psalm 119:15 are some examples).
We must take time out from our busy lives to connect with God and feel His Loving presence. Practice meditation to God daily so that you can begin to strengthen your sense of His Love and gain the ability to listen to what he has to say to you , just you. If you are not quiet , you will not hear Him. Let go and let His spirit wash over you.
He is our refuge and our strength. We know that God is omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (present everywhere), omnipotent (all-powerful), holy, sovereign, faithful, infinite, and good. Acknowledging God implies that we can trust Him and surrender to His plan because we understand who He is.
Make a promise to yourself , that you will deepen your faith this day as you begin to let go and surrender to the Love of God.
Connect your spirit with His, Let His will be your will. God’s love for you is real and when you release control , let go of vices, become holier in spirit ,God pours His love onto you and life will never be the same.
Run to Him, lay down your weapons and fall into His arms. Acknowledge that He is God and that He is exalted in the earth. Be still and know that He is God.
Prayer to God.
Lord, thank you for loving me. I surrender all to you God , help me as I practice this, Putting full trust in the name of the One who surrendered all for me, Amen.
